Why Advertise or Sponsor?

The purpose of the advertising and sponsorship in the Coniston and Crake Valley News is:

  • To provide information to readers about local, trusted tradespeople and businesses, and non-profit organisations in the Coniston and Crake Valley area.

  • To pay for the printing costs of the Coniston and Crake Valley News and make it sustainable and self-supporting.

  • To provide a way for local businesses to support the benefice magazine and the Church.

However, the primary aim of the Coniston and Crake Valley news is to be a voice for the communities in the area, and to keep those communities informed about local news and events of interest. Therefore, getting a balance of the amount of advertising in the magazine is important.

The aim is to have a maximum of a quarter of the magazine as advertising, so there would be no more than 8 out of 32 or 9 out of 36 pages of advertising, including advertising from non-profit organisations. Naturally, sponsorship does not take up the same amount of space and increases room for articles and news.

How Much to Advertise or Sponsor?

The proposed costs for different categories of advertising are based upon printing costs for a 32-page or potentially 36-page magazine. There are three bands of advertising costs are £16.00 per column centimetre for 1 year, 12 monthly issues and so a typical small advert of 3cm, single column would be £48.00 per annum.

The magazine also includes one full-page, full-colour advert for the back of the magazine. This incurs, naturally, an additional cost and is separately priced and we are open to offers on an annual basis. The invoices for advertising will be sent prior to the new year, and would need to be paid for in full at the start of the year.  The payment can be made by cheque to "Benefice of Coniston and the Crake Valley" and sent to the Vicarage, Penny Bridge, Cumbria, LA12 7RQ, or by BACS, sort code 20-55-41 and A/C no. 40683485, or via the Giving & Payments webpage referencing the payment as advertising and name.

The proposed cost for Sponsorship is for a single month's issue and would include several notices of support by the sponsor within the magazine at key points in the magazine layout. The approximate printing costs for one month's issue are £390.00. A potential sponsor may not wish to meet this full cost, but a proportion or contribution is always welcome and negotiable!
